Schloss Lieser is highly regarded in Mosel, obtaining 25 hectares (spread amongst 185 small plots) within eight Grand Cru sites since Thomas Haag and his wife Ute took over in 1992. This spatlese from the infamous Grand Cru Goldtropfchen displays beautifully sweet fruit balanced by bright acidity. Winemaking is very traditional, with ambient yeast always used for fermentation, and viticulture is quickly turning organic as the next generation of Haags make their imprint on the estate. Very aromatic with cut flowers, ripe apples, petrol, and wet rocks on the nose.
