The vast area of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo was awarded the DOC classification in 1968. It covers the entire eastern half of the Abruzzo region, stretching 75 miles (120km) down the central east coast of Italy. The western half of Abruzzo is too mountainous for effective viticulture, so Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wines come mostly from the low hills, plains and coast between the Colline Teramane hills in the north (near the Marche border) and the Rio Sangro in the south (at the Molise border).

100% Montepulciano./ ABV 13.5%

Description

This wine is produced with Montepulciano grapes cultivated on young vineyards in Nocciano, following the principles of organic farming. Grape harvest takes place during the 1st and the 2nd weeks of October, depending on ripeness. Grapes are picked by hand, respecting their wholeness and the organoleptic peculiarities that will come out with the wine. Winemaking is carried out in respect of tradition and observing the most modern winemaking methods. Brief cryomaceration with the best grapes for about 7-10 days at a controlled temperature of about 15°C for the first 2 days and at 25-27°C for the following ones. Separated with soft pressing and allowed to alcoholically and malolactically ferment. Aged in steel, stabilized and bottled.
