Muskateller makes up a good hectare in the vineyards of the Rebholz Winery. That doesn’t sound like much compared to Riesling or Weißer Burgunder. For a long time, however, people in Germany were hardly aware of the aromatic specialty of Muskateller, and it is fortunate that the Muskateller vines were not uprooted here in favor of more popular varieties. Because now there is something like a small revival of this variety – especially when the Muskateller is dry. One of the most beautiful specimens comes from Rebholz, because the unvarnished dry style of the house suits the grape variety particularly well. The biodynamically produced Muskateller is matured after 24 hours of maceration and a spontaneously initiated fermentation in stainless steel. The maceration provides some phenolics as well as texture and grip on the palate. This underlines the seriousness of the wine, which nevertheless always remains on the light, fresh and playful side.
