Description

Lagar da Condesa is a winery with D.O Rías Baixas. It is a Gil Family project that combines tradition and modernity. Currently, it has a wine in its product offering: Winery of the Countess. History: Lagar da Condesa is the project of the Gil Family in the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin, Galicia, within the Val do Salnés. The winery is located in Arcos da Condesa, with a great wine-growing tradition, in the municipality of Caldas de Reis, where hot springs and vines have been linked to its history since time immemorial. The first harvest that sees the light in this winery corresponds with that of the year 2013. Installations: The winery is built of granite stone, like the typical Galician country houses, surrounded by vineyards, inside it houses the most modern technology. In the elaboration of the wines, the whole process is aimed at extracting the best qualities of the grape, its harvesting is manual and its elaboration combines the traditional method with the most advanced and respectful technology with the Albariño variety, native to this wine region and with which all our wines are made. Vineyards and soils: The farm has a South West orientation, which allows optimal ripening and ventilation of the clusters. The sandy and granite soils allow perfect drainage of the waters that come from the frequent rains in this area. The vineyards, of the Albariño variety, under these conditions, grow the perfect grapes for the production of the wines marketed by Lagar da Condesa.

Winemaking

The vines grow on Kimmeridgian clay soils. Deposits of miniscule oysters are found in the rock, typical to the limestone soils found in the region. Grapes are hand-harvested and are pressed before undergoing alcoholic fermentation for a period of 7 days in stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation follows for 30 days and the wine is aged on its lees for 7 to 8 months. Before release, the wine undergoes cold tartaric stabilization.
