Description

Located in Piedmont, La Vedetta vineyards slope down sunny hills at an average altitude of 200m asl.  The typical marly and limestone soils of the area mix with a high percentage of sandstone, around 15%, which gives the wines an enviable aromatic finesse. The geography of the area, the nearby river Tanaro, and the surrounding woods and hazel groves all contribute to a peculiar cool microclimate which confers a particular level of acidity to the grapes. After a careful selection, the grapes are harvested, pressed and left to ferment for 10 days.  A second fermentation then occurs which bestows the wine its balance.  Refined over the winter, comes spring the wine has acquired marked freshness and sapidity – and is capable of lengthy ageing periods.
