A pioneer by nature, Donald Hess was determined to defy convention and pursue winemaking at elevation in the Napa Valley. He established the Hess Collection winery on the steep slopes of Mount Veeder in 1978 and began a legacy of luxury wine making. For over 40 years, we have been producing complex, elegant wines sourced from estate vineyards high on Mount Veeder and in the far reaches of the Napa Valley. It is from these rugged landscapes that our winemaking team crafts exceptional luxury wines. Guided by Donald Hess’ founding philosophy, Hess Persson Estates is committed to honor the land and return what we take through sustainable farming and winemaking practices. Led by senior winemaker Stephanie Pope, the Hess Persson Winemaking Team crafts elegant, vibrant and balanced luxury wines. We believe good wine begins in the vineyard — with each new vintage, our winemakers are dedicated to delivering wines which embody a true sense of place. We believe that quality wine starts in the vineyard. Since our founding in 1978, it has been a core mission of the Hess Collection to nurture the land and return what we take.
