Description
Domaine du Collier Saumur Blanc La Charpentrie is a single-variety Chenin Blanc white wine produced by Domaine du Collier under the AOC Saumur, in the Loire Valley, France.Domaine du Collier Saumur Blanc La Charpentrie is made with clusters from a hundred-year-old plot in the town of Brézé where the vineyards are worked in a way that forces the vines to go deeper into the soils that are mostly made up of calcareous rock also known as tuffeau.
Antoine Foucault, founder of Domaine du Collier, cultivates his 6.5 hectares according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture and with minimal intervention. No chemical fertilisers or herbicides are used in the vineyard. The clusters are harvested manually and all must ferments with native yeasts. In addition to the special soils where the vines grow, Antoine Foucault ages his wines in troglodyte caves, a kind of natural tuff vault with very low and constant temperatures that contribute to the character of the wines: bright, precise and balanced Chenins.
Antoine Foucault and his wife Caroline Boireau undoubtedly make some of the most exciting wines in the Loire Valley, one of which is this Domaine du Collier Saumur Blanc La Charpentrie, an extraordinary Saumur wine that is mineral and elegant.
