Color: A glint of bright Gold (Auric)Beastie master of malt.
Aroma: The first sniff alerts you to a nearby presence… heightened senses are filled with very bright, fresh herbal notes, with creeping hints of vanilla and pear. Rich Turkish coffee mingles with sappy pine resin, with honey-glazed ham lurking in the background. With water, more herbal top notes like vetiver and fennel captivate and pull you in, while beguiling scents of aniseed, green apple and leather cause you to drop your guard. Out of nowhere, a sharp tang of smoke and a crack of fresh black pepper fire warning shots across the senses.
Palate: Suddenly, a rich, explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote and tar. A powerful blast of eucalyptus thrashes about with antiseptic lozenges and aniseed. The raw, smoky intensity gathers pace, before smoked bacon and savoury meats sink into the palate.
Finish: The long, salty mouthcoating finish retreats, with hints of cocoa and fudge slinking slowly away.

After 13 years at the helm, our legendary Distillery Manager, Mickey Heads has set sail for horizons new. The captain of the good ship Ardbeg has retired. Mickey’s leaving has been hard to fathom for all of the crew, but to commemorate the skipper and his service, we’ve created an extra-special bottle of grog – a treasure fit for the saltiest of seadogs. So to Mickey we say, ‘yo-ho-ho and a bottle of Arrrrrrrdbeg!’ as we raise a toast and wish him good luck and Godspeed!
Wholly matured in ex-rye casks, gunpowder, smoked banana and pear drift into vanilla and rye on the nose. A spicy mouthfeel hoists up and ignites a blunderbuss of fruity flavours.
An armada of aniseed is tailed by smoked toffee and a distant hint of sourdough biscuits. The long finish lingers, with gentle smoke listing on the palate.
