Hans found his in Mauritius, where a Fairtrade-certified collective of small farmers produce a style that is elegant, fine and flowery. For the perfect water, Hans tapped his secret Alpine source, a primary rock massif formed during the tertiary period. The high degree of granite in the rock gives the water an exceptional softness. |
| The Craft | Two stills equipped with 36 sensors each. Cameras outside and in. A specially programmed computer system that processes complex data in real time, creating the possibility to ferment the molasses using different yeasts at different temperatures. All were necessary to innovate on an ancient process, unlocking the true potential of 4X50. But it is only by tasting, adjusting, tasting again—all day, almost every day—that Hans arrives at the consistent flavor of rum that is, for him, perfection. |
