Pizzato Reserva Alicante Bouschet is a full-bodied dry red wine from Vale dos Vinhedos in Serra Gaúcha, Brazil. It’s 100% Alicante Bouschet with 13.5% abv. Suitable for Vegans.   The Pizzato family, originally from Italy, came to Brazil in 1880 and, after many years cultivating vines for other wineries, set up their own namesake winery in 1999. Today their 45 hectares of vines are split across Vale dos Vinhedos and Dois Lajeados, the former some 500m above sea level. This rare Alicante Bouschet, one of the few ‘teinturier’ grapes whose flesh is deeply red, is a cracking wine! Made by current generation winemaker Flavio Pizzato, the grapes are taken from a single bloc of vines and the production is a limited 4300 bottles. The wine’s deeply coloured, richly aromatic and full of vivid fruits, vanilla spice and fine, earthy tannins. The 2016 was chosen to be served at the launch of Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson’s World Wine Atlas 2019 edition.
