ervi is a historic, legendary estate in Gattinara, northern Piemonte. Founded in in 1906 by Italo Nervi, it is the oldest winemaking estate in Gattinara; the family’s vineyards date back to 1679. The 28.5 hectares of vineyards are spread across the acclaimed, historic crus of Valferana [dating back to 1231], Molsino [dating back to 1471], Garavoglie and Casacce.   The family ran the estate until 1991, in 2011 wine collector Erling Astrup organized a group of Norwegian investors to purchase the estate. Desiring to revitalize the estate, Astrup sought the advice of his friend and renowned Barolo producer, Roberto Conterno. In 2018 the investment group decided to sell the estate but wanted to ensure it would come under the care of the right person. Therefore, they offered it Roberto Conterno first; “While Roberto had not been actively seeking out a new winery, the opportunity to acquire such an historic estate with great vineyard holdings of Nebbiolo was too hard to pass up”.
