Description
This 50% Furmint, 50% Harslevelu blend makes up the majority of Attila Homonna’s dry wine production. The grapes come from 40-80 year old vines from several sites, all with volcanic soils that he farms organically. Furmint lends a backbone of acidity and is responsible for the strict linear structure of the wine, while Harslevelu brings a silky texture with floral and honey aromas on the nose. The vinification is fairly straightforward and simple. Grapes were de-stemmed and then gently crushed in an old fashioned basket press before fermenting spontaneously in used 225 and 500 liter barrels. The wine stayed on the fine lees until bottling. The result is a very serious wine, yet already enjoyable in youth. White flowers, juicy yellow fruits and beautiful flower aromas dominate. There is also a hint of waxiness, often present in Homonna’s exquisite wines.
