The wine takes it’s name from the Gerbino vineyard, the oldest family Feudo where the small country house Gerbino still stands today.  This is a harmonious blend of Nero d’Avola, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Description

The Gerbino Rosso blend is the pillar of the family production. It expresses the unique terroir and climate in a harmonious blend of international varieties and the Sicilian king of grapes, Nero d’ Avola. Named after the Gerbino vineyard, the oldest family vineyard originally planted in the 1860’s. Hand harvested grapes are de-stemmed and fermented seperately in stainless steel tanks. Warm maceration on the skins for around 20 days. The Nero d’Avola & Syrah are aged in used French oak barrels for 3 months. The wine is finally blended to achieve a flavorful yet elegant blend. Deep ruby red in color with shades of violet. Fresh and fruity nose of wildberries, plums and spice. In the mouth the oak flavors are well integrated, notes of plums follow, accompanied by soft tannins and a slightly spicy finish.

The Di Giovanna family has been cultivating organic
vineyards for five generations in western Sicily, just outside the town of Sambuca di Sicilia. Brothers Gunther & Klaus manage the family’s 56 hectare estate and winery where their hand crafted wines are made and bottled. Their winesare made exclusively with their estate fruit and all of their vineyards are certified organic by Suolo e Salute SRL.
