Description

Carchelo Canalizo is a red wine produced in the D.O. Jumilla by Bodegas Carchelo, in the municipality of Jumilla, Murcia.
Bodegas Carchelo has 100 planted hectares, between their own plots and those they rent. They are located in the Regional Park Sierra del Carche, with an average altitude of 600 metres. The plots are located in different areas of the region, on calcareous soils with low organic matter, good drainage on the surface and good water retention in deeper layers. Thanks to its geographic location —80 km from the Mediterranean and less than 500 metres altitude— it has a Mediterranean-continental climate. It has irregular rainfall, ranging from 200-400mm/year.
Carchelo Canalizo is a red wine made from Monastrell, Syrah and Tempranillo. Grapes are harvested by hand and selected. After it has been destemmed, it undergoes alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. It is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.
