Description

Claudio Ankarani, the owner of Ancarani , is a vintner by nature . He inherited the love of wine and vine from his grandfather, who had been working on this land since the 60s and was its keeper. His attitude towards the land is clearly felt in his wines, very special and truly handmade. We can say that each bottle, before leaving the winery, passes through his hands. They try to minimize the use of sulfites, and only copper and sulfur are used for sanitary treatment. The vineyards are divided on the hills of Faenza, next to the fortress of Ariolo, which was built in 1457 and is one of the oldest fortresses in all of Italy. Only autochthonous varieties are grown – Sangiovese, Albana, Burson, Centesimino, Famoso and others. Cultivation methods are organic. The annual production volume is about 45,000 bottles of excellent wine, which has already earned the love and respect of connoisseurs around the world.

Harvest

Manual with selection of the best bunches, in several passes, in the first half of September.

Vinification

Destemming and traditional fermentative maceration on the skins with its own yeasts for about 4 days. Soft pressing, no more than 0.8 bar, for a delicate and intense extraction of the aromas.

Refinement

Maturation for 4 months on natural ferments. Decantation and refinement in cement tanks for at least 10 months to guarantee natural clarification and the evolution of the structure. Minimum time in the bottle before marketing: 6 months.
