Description

This wine is mainly the second Pinot Gris wine of Clos Windsbuhl. Small volumes from other vineyards (Heimbourg and Clos Jebsal) can be used in addition, depending on the selections and maturities. Our goal is to create a wine that is representative of the limestone geology. The old Pinot Gris vines in Windsbuhl were planted in the 1960s and before. When we acquired the Clos in 1987, some vines had to be pulled out (clones and/or rootstocks that were too productive) and were partly replaced by Pinot Gris between 1988 and 1992. These vines are not included in the Clos Windsbuhl wine for the moment and are therefore used in this cuvée. The signature of the vineyard is however very present: beautiful acidity, elegant and racy palate…. but also a tendency to retain a residual sweetness if the maturity is slightly too high. It is therefore very important to pick at the right time. Pinot Gris can evolve very quickly, but this was perfectly mastered in 2018. The wine was able to ferment dry from very healthy grapes.
