This is a sophisticated Kabinett Riesling, the lightest and most delicate of German Riesling styles. Low in alcohol, high in acidity and with a slight touch of sweetness this is a beautiful, precise wine made by one of the best producers in Germany, Donnhoff. The Leistenberg vineyard lies just outside the Donnhoff’s home town of Oberhauser and its southeast facing slopes bask in the morning sun drying any moisture and promoting healthy fruit. The afternoon sun is less powerful allowing the grapes to ripen for a long time without becoming overripe and the alcohol level too high. A perfect vineyard then for Kabinett wines! Bright citrus, juicy red apple and peach flavours with a slate minerality and spicy acidity. The length is long and textured, there is a real finesse about this wine.
