One of our favorite shochu makers, Kuroki Honten grows sweet potatoes used for Yamaneko on their own farm, using sustainable, organic practices.   Take a look at the eyes of this kuroneko (black cat). They are imploring us to get in touch with our spooky side and indulge in the juicy, creamy loveliness that is this shochu.   Nestled at the top of Mt. Osuzuyama sits Kuroki Honten’s sister distillery, Osuzuyama Distillery. Kuroki Honten created this highly modern facility to have access to pristine mountain water for their fermentations and distillation. They are dedicated to creating shochu in the traditional handmade way with no automation.
