This organic blend evokes the white gold of the Catalan sun, the dry rock, scorched vegetation, and resins of wild pines, and the crystalline salinity Roussillon’s vermilion coast. Warmth with refinement, texture at no expense of refreshment, and spice lifting the finish into a flourish of orange blossom, fennel, warm Mediterranean air and a whisper of garrigue.

Description

Stonier than the 2020; more smoke; more peaches; a hint of brûlée creeping in. I feel the bones and power of this wine more than I did the 2020, as if, one year on, it’s shed some puppy fat and is starting to muscle up, stride away, less inclined to charm and seek approval. Deeply, deeply stony. The fruit and flesh hidden inside a deep well. There is almost something, weirdly, of Chablis Grand Cru here, in this intensely rugged, dry-country, windswept Roussillon mountain wine.
