Description
“Le Vin de jardin” is a natural red wine from Domaine La Grange aux Belles , in Anjou, where our 3 friends Marc Houtin, Julien Bresteau and Gérald Peau officiate.
Passionate about wine and winegrowers, Marc obtained his national oenology diploma in Toulouse after several internships, notably at Château d’Yquem. He was then 8 years old in leap years. Yes Marc was born on February 29 😉
He settled in 2004 in Anjou, Soulaines , on a 12 hectare vineyard mainly located in the Aubance hillsides, on clayey and schist soils, then joined a few years later with Julien Bresteau and Gérald Peau. The estate now has 15 hectares which are spread over 5 municipalities in the Coteaux de l’Aubance appellation area: Soulaines sur Aubance, Vauchrétien, Saint Melaine sur Aubance, Juigné sur Loire, Murs Erigné “the rock of walls”. The grape varieties are quite varied: Chenin, Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pineau d’Aunis, Gamay.
The subsoil is entirely schist, more or less deep depending on the plots, the superficial part is often silty or even clayey in certain corners. In general, water stress is very important there. The climate is oceanic, protected by the Mauges, the Choletais and the Beaulieu forest. It is an enclave that generally experiences little precipitation.
