A refined, very elegant, powerful wine where the terroir is fully revealing. With a fine ruby-red colour, it offers a nose of small berry fruit such as blueberry. The taste is agreably surprising, with wellrounded, soft tannins and good length.

A very fine Beaujolais-Villages.

Terroir
The soils are mainly composed of limestone and clay interspersed with sandy granite veins. Of the total 22000 hectares planted in the Beaujolais region, 6000 hectares are entitled to the “Beaujolais- Villages” appellation, which is the intermediary appellation between “Beaujolais” and the 10 Crus.

Our wine is made up from a vineyard situated in: Blacé, situated towards the South of the region, several kilometres from Villefranche-sur-Saône. The vineyard extends from the Blaceret plateau (215 metres altitude) to the wooded hillsides of the Col de Failly (at 673 metres) and produces 420 hectares of Beaujolais-Villages.

Vines and Soil

Age of Vines: 38 years
Yield: 52 hectolitres per hectare Plots:
A parcel selection of 1.5 hectares, with vines pruned “en gobelet” on sandy soils.
Blacé brings roundness and fruit to the blend.

Vinification

The stalks being very ripe, vatting was with whole bunches to help and give a tasty, easydrinking style.

Semi-carbonic maceration lasted 18 to 20 days with only one over-pumping for maximum extraction and to preserve the aromas.

Ageing: 8 months in vat.

Food Pairing

Best served at between 12°C and 14°C., to appreciate its fruit aromas, its delicacy and freshness. Ideal with charcuterie, Italian dishes and white meat dishes. Why not decant this great Beaujolais-Villages to discover new tastes?

Aging Potential

This long vat maceration allows for good extraction. The finished wine is therefore well-structured and can age up to 5 years.

The Vintage

A round, crispy and aromatic vintage. With an early start to the year, Springtime was warm and dry and limited the vegetative growth of the vine. Summer rainfall in early July helped to accelerate the development of the vine and the grapes. Flowering took place in early June followed by the “veraison” (grapes change colour) at the end of July. The result was a low potential yield with small bunches. Under sunshine and warm weather the harvest started mid September, giving grapes with high potential degrees. Handpicked on 10h September 2014.
