This fine peated malt is from the Caol Ila Distillery, the powerhouse of whisky production on the Isle of Islay. They have tamed a youthful, vibrant and boisterous 6-year-old spirit by filling it into French oak casks, previously used for maturing rich and fruity Cognac. The slow-grown French oak, with its refined, silky tannins, has added sophistication to this Islay malt’s peated style. Having nurtured this delicious Islay malt for 14 months in Cognac casks the results are impressive – a solid favourite amongst the Murray McDavid Team.
