Description

This exceptional dry Riesling comes from the Premier Cru vineyard Gaisberg. The site’s exquisite brown soil is weathered mica schist, which is perfect for growing mineral-driven Rieslings. Situated near the village of Strass, the grapes for this wine are grown on terraces and come from vines that are forty years old on average. Hirsch is certifed biodynamic and utilizes minimal intervention in the cellar including whole cluster press, ambient yeast fermentation in steel and large neutral oak barrels, and extended lees contact. The estate holds their wines back from release for an extra year or two to allow the elements to come into focus, and while this is terrific now, it will certainly continue to evolve for another decade
