Located 5km north of the town of Saint-Emilion, the satellite appellation of Montagne-Saint-Emilion is one to watch for reds that can deliver the attractive, lifted, red cherry aromatics so typical of Saint-Emilion but without the price tag that Saint-Emilion can command. With 70% Merlot bringing juiciness of fruit flavours, the 15%/15% split of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon contributes complexity of perfume and brightness of mouthfeel to the Tour Bel Air blend. This is a pretty, full-yet-lively wine, with a smooth finish.
